I can still remember

I can still remember

A Poem by Ananth Vardhan

I can still remember that smile on your face

It’s not blended

It’s not fake

 It’s not contaminated

With any underlying stratagem

It’s as pure as a Mother’s Love

Ahh... what else is pure on this earth?

Nothing but your smile

I can still remember those eyes you have

They are real

They never lied

They never loathed

They never envied

Ahh... what else is real on this earth?

Nothing but your eyes

I can still remember the way you talk

Your words are not twisted

They mean only what you think

They don’t have any ulterior motives

Ahh... what else is true on this earth?

Nothing but your words

But now, I touch you and I don’t feel a thing

I talk to you and I don’t want you anymore

I love you and I loathe myself the next minute

May be because the child inside you is dead

And so you are dead to me

Or maybe because I am dead inside to see the child in you
