Papaws Poem

Papaws Poem

A Poem by Andy
"

My father-in-law gave all the grand children a special name that each has cherished over the years. He is 94 and will not be with us much longer so I wrote this as a tribute to him.

"

PAPAW’S POEM

To all he knows he gives a name

Each is special in his eyes

Not your name but one the same

And each given in proud disguise

The hours and days speed on by

We grow accustom to the call

Answering this little white lie

We love our name one and all

Bibble, Buck, Little Tilly too,

Lampkin smiles when Alvin’s called,

Aleise loves Irene’s new doo,

And John Robert is the first nephew

The name you have to wear with pride

‘Cause Papaw gave it so much thought

It’s your real name it implies

A name like this cannot be bought

Your names engraved upon our hearts

We’ll carry forth forever,

Till someday we will meet again

And give you a name so clever
