what truly is

i have failed.

i have felt saddness

so deep that i knew nothing else.

i have seen my dreams grow

and then watched them fade away

beyond my control.

i have been unable to stop crying.

i have hurt.

i have been hurt.

i have seen a man die

right before me,

watched his final breath escape.

i have hoped in the hopeless.

i have lost.

i have regretted words,

actions,

and regrets.

i have broken promises.

i have been lied to.

i have been selfish

and thought only for myself.

i have been excluded and ridiculed.

i have felt pain in so many ways.

but none of that can change the fact

that it is raining today,

and i can see its beauty from my window.
