TOMORROW

TOMORROW

A Poem by angeleapaugh

 TOMORROW

DEAR TOMORROW,
DON'T YOU WASTE YOURSELF
LOOKING BACK AT ME
JUST POINT YOUR FACE TO THE FUTURE
JUST BURY THIS MEMORY
DON'T THINK ABOUT THE TIMES
THAT SOMEONE ALREADY HAD
DON'T DREDGE UP THINGS THAT'S PASSED
THEY WILL ONLY MAKE YOU SAD
FOR LIFE IS SHORT FOR SURE
IT'S SOMETHING WE ALL KNOW
BUT LONG IS THE PATH I'M WALKING
AS FAR BACK AS I CAN GO
OUR MEMORIES, WELL THEY MAKE US
WHO WE REALLY ARE
WHEN WE LOOK TOWARDS THE SKY
WE ARE LOOKING FOR THAT STAR
THE ONE THAT GLOWS THE BRIGHTEST
THAT NEVER LOST IT'S SHINE
THAT STOOD OUT ACROSS THE YEARS
AND CONTINUED TO BE MINE
LIFE IS BUT A COLLECTION
OF MEMORIES FROM THE PAST
A REAL LIVE MOTION PICTURE
WITH EVERYONE THE CAST
DON'T WASTE A SINGLE MINUTE
DON'T LET TIME A MOMENT STEAL
LET YOUR LOVED ONES KNOW THEIR PLACE
TELL THEM EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL

This is an imaginative way to say: "it's all a matter of the outlook we choose" . . . & I love that you show this using various possibilities of how one's outlook could be, shown using natural metaphors blended with human nature observations. Nicely inspiring message.

yes ..our memories from the past salt and pepper every "now" moment we live in ...what a great way to say it ..i especially am drawn to the wisdom in closing bout loved ones ..paying attention to letting them know how we feel on a regular basis is something that puts more blossoms in our own existence and in our relationships ..your poem lifts me up and encourages me to continue to "let people know" ...

"Don't waste a single minute." What a wonderful idea, if only we could live up to it. More importantly letting loved ones know how you feel.

This is so strong and in its' strength beautiful.

Great wisdom shared above. Time is our most valuable item we control. Use it wisely. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

Gee
Nope, we wait until they die THEN tell anyone who will give us their ear how much the newly deceased was truly loved...

Exactly...and when we are fortunate enough to have that love two ways, it is worth even the memories. Valentine

Very beautifully written. I loved the way you conveyed two messages not to look back in life and to express the feelings towards others in a single poem. :)
