UP, AND EVER ONWARDA Poem by angela directional piece
Up, and ever onward, I see myself and know
The way that I am facing is the way that I will go. I dare not stop my progress; 'twould be a shame, you see, To take a break, to make a pause, in my mobility. Up, and ever onward, I hurry as I try To get where I am going to, not knowing where or why. "I'll know it when I get there." I say it with a grin, And hastily, I check my watch, quite eager to begin. Up, and ever onward, I push my feet ahead, My dad would say there's time enough for resting when I'm dead... So, on and on I persevere, never seeking slumber; Time and tide will not give way, nor will my soul encumber. Up, and ever onward, I tell myself again; I feel that I am coming to what's sure to be The end.
