Scarlet Ribbons

Mommy...will you braid my hair tomorrow...
And weave in red ribbons to go with my red dress?
They are taking pictures at school for Christmas
And I want to look my very best.

Honey, you have ribbons of blue and green,
Gold colored ribbons with a satin sheen,
Even ribbons of lace for your head...
But nowhere can I find the color red.

Mommy...I need scarlet ribbons for my hair
To go with my dress daddy bought me to wear.
The pictures are very special, part of a Christmas play
And I want to look special for daddy on that day.

My sweet daughter, there is only one answer for you,
Say a prayer before you go to bed and ask Jesus to make it true.
And don't forget to thank Him for every blessing you receive,
For you see...prayers are answered, if only you believe.

I got a request from a special friend to write a poem
especially for this song...so this is dedicated to her.
