On the bright side:
I don't have a home to feel homesick for
On the downside:
I don't have a home to feel homesick for
So when those wracking sobs take hold of your entire body
I have no one to call out to.
That is the loneliest feeling of all.

Author's Note

Angel Shores
My mom and sister and brother lived in Arkansas. My dad and stepmom lived in Virginia. I lived in Ohio with a friend from high school. Whoever I chose to live with either was too poor to support me, didn’t want me around, or I felt bad for leeching off of their kindness. I had moved so much during my childhood. I didn’t have a permanent address to think back on fondly or call my own. It was one of the things I wanted most in life. Sometimes, that feeling got a little scary.

Childhood wounds can leave lasting scars, and this one reveals feelings of insecurity because of the lack of a permanent home. Coming to terms with such feelings can sometimes take years. Good luck to you.
