Let the downpour subsideA Poem by annabel13Nothing comforts my soul More than the soothing rain and its dull loll. As it fills my hopes and inflates my heart with A calming voice that confirms what I thought to be true. What I think has no parallel to the happenings of a crazed
society Which arms slide gently around our generation And infuse their thoughts with those of someone else. The strongest world leaders and dictators of the past Have long desired for such an effect. One that grabs the population and looks them in the eye And makes them forget why things are the way they are, Why things don’t have to be the same, Why movies and clothes and stores, stars, people in bars,
media, peers, phones, US Have to all be the same. A world clothed by conformity. A world deprived from 1984’s standards Where this is good This is a sin And its bad to read. Where there is no individuality And when there is you get punished, Torn apart by the words of Countless undercover thought police otherwise known as you
peers. The judgments pour down on you and drops slide off you
fingertips and create a river. The first one is like a light drizzle and suddenly the
sprinkle turns to a full on monsoon and the flood of your tears carries you
away as you look towards the bright light of a steady sun shower comforting
your soul And it takes you away Setting you free from the dark rumbling clouds Called this society. © 2016 annabel13Author's Note
