White

White

A Poem by anna
"

3 of 365

"
"The universe is made of tiny stories
Little jagged edges
sewn together with stardust."

"You're one of these shards
And did you know
That the universe is beautiful?"

You look down
As I say this
It seems there are tears
in your eyes

I wonder what put them there
Was it the poetry
Or that I found out
About your secret

I grab your hand
and turn it over
and look at the intricacy
of white

I look up
"This isn't beautiful
Nor romantic.
But I do love you"

The tears create marks
when they fall down
your flushed face
eyes red from crying

"Sorry" you whispered

You are welcome...:)................
I really enjoyed the first part of this free verse poem. Maybe because of the sci-fi nerd interwoven into my childhood. It has a very mystical feel about it. Charming in its own way. I was a little taken back over the structure of this poem. Because a structure like that usually entices a certain rhythm or rhyme of sorts. What would've been interesting was if you completely broke away from that structure and re-did everything in a story format. Make it a little bit longer and you got yourself a decent short story about cosmic love.
