To my brother

To my brother

A Poem by Emmy

The weight of the world is not on your shoulders,
it's at your fingers instead.

The oxygen you breathe is never wasted,
but fuels the thoughts in your head.

The world is not conspiring against you,
they want to help you ahead.

The damaging taunts you shout hold no meaning,
you just need to go to bed.

The restlessness of the panic inside you,
will leave me with words unsaid.

Please don't sip anymore codeine,
or soon enough you will be dead.

Quite wise, quite profound, truly well done!

I'm both amused and amazed. Great humor. Great wit. Another smart poem :) I.I.

Sisterly advice is most good for the soul, but rarely heeded, especially by our brothers who think they know better. Well, maybe sometimes they do.

Good for you, Annie!

Wow! Strong & sure, I love the style here. Phrasing with couplets sublime. Killer open and closing couplets, really powerful. Putting demons to rest, or trying to but I feel like there's an acceptance that one cannot completely do so. Just my thoughts. I enjoyed this very much! R xo
