Beautiful Lie

Beautiful Lie

A Poem by A Snake Trying To Write
"

I probably should post something that isn't a venty romance poem but that really seems to be all I can write that isn't heavily political.

"
I don't look back at the things we said.
And this may dull the tint of red.
The color that had blinded my eyes.
Get those memories out of my head.

Now I know that you didn't care
About the memories we would share
Why should I remember?
Why would I even dare?

When I said, "I love you."
I meant it through and through.
You had my heart.
But I guess it wasn't true.

I want to thank you for loving me.
You had my heart's key.
Though you lied.
I can forgive easily.

You gave me a reason to try.
And this came to me when you said goodbye.
When the end is in your hands,
And my love is in your eye,

Thank you for what we had.
Thank you for that beautiful lie.
