Words to Death

Words to Death

A Poem by Thatgirlwhowrites

Death,

You ripped my heart out on Tuesday with no warning.

Now it is Monday and I can’t help but wonder why you took my one and only?

No matter how much I begged, you still took them away

I watched the light leave their eyes, all of their memories flash before them.

Let me ask you this, when you took them, did you feel any guilt? Any emotion to show you knowledge of this soul breaking act?

A piece of my heart will never be filled

Tears will fill my eyes from time to time

Life complete shattered as I knew it

So Death, I leave you with one question,

Why didn’t take me instead?
