Legacy

Legacy

A Poem by Anthony

What is your legacy?

Is it a new found way to gaze the stars,

Or maybe one of the world?

Is it a map of places you've been,

Or even of places you want to go?

Is it tales of times come and gone?

How about tales of lessons and woes?

No, it is none of those, but
Possibly something far more simple...

Nothing.

There is not one thing that has been recorded;

The memories are so far and few in between.

Where you are, where you've been, or where you're going

Is but a mystery to us all.

The mistakes are there,
But will they be allowed to rule?

What is it you dreamed of?
What do you want to leave behind for the next generation?

Did innocence not fill that once young mind?

Did dreams and goals not have an importance?

The past is there to teach.

The future is there to hope.

The present is here to live.

So I ask you,
What do you want to leave your only legacy?
