For Why

For Why

My faith in human nature has been tried today once more
Their act of mindless selfishness is one we must deplore
Another anti hero has gained immortality
The only one remembered while the rest we do not see
A victim of deception played the ending their game
With nurtured blind morality so the world must share the blame
The last we'll shed a tear for this oh that will be the day
Divisions greed and ignorance ensure it's here to stay

Insightful and speaks of the issues we are also plagued by in the US. Hatred, inequity, and indifference toward one another sown by those in power that relish the division while they rob us blind. It makes it easier for them to steal from us by making us hate each other more then we hate them. Thank you Johnnie for sharing your wonderful poem with us.

When I read your poem Johnnie, I could only think woke. The scourge on modern society in my opinion. Fuelling division. People who are not prepared to look at the larger picture, they focus on a small corner of it. Yes I am talking about the ignorance of those who pull statues down and daub them with paint. Often in the night when they aren't brave enough to show their cowardly faces. Statues should stay. Some of our past isn't always squeaky clean, but we should learn from it not pretend it didn't happen. Good topical write.
