Be The Change

Be The Change

A Poem by Anusha Pokharel

You see a blind woman crossing the street

You are right next to her, and she is standing still

Will you help her cross the street?

Will you lead her the way so she won't get lost?

No, no one will ever try to help her

Every one is busy in their own life

Everyone thinks their life is miserable because,

They forget that there is an another world

A world that is worser and happier

A world of no hope and love

A world of darkness and brightness

But you still think that your life is worse

Do you know when life is the worse?

When people forget about the world around them

A world where people are asking for help

But you are ignoring them because you are busy

Have you ever tried to help one in need

Have you ever heard a story of a stranger

Have you ever tried to look around the world

If not than try to be the change

Be the change in the world around you

Help people and support them

let people know that there is still a hope

even though we all are in our own world

Be the change in the world around you

Do not ignore the one's in need

Hold their hand let them know you are there

even though we all are too busy in our own world

Be the change in the world around you

and everyone will do the same

Make people feel that their life is not worse

because there are tons of stories hidden

Be the one change in the world

Because that one person can make a huge difference

Because that one person can give back someone's smile

that was taken away by the busy world around

Your poetry shows that you have a good heart, and that you want to be this kind of change. You give me hope that the world can change, because your poetry is so full of compassion.

I really liked your lines about making connections, going beyond the borders of our lives to help others. These are some of my favorite lines: let people know that there is still a hope/even though we all are in our own world." Sometimes we let the perceived tasks of our world get in the way of helping people. Happens all the time in big cities.

I also really liked your last two lines in this poem. They remind me of a few lines from Emily Dickinson:
IF I can stop one heart from breaking,/I shall not live in vain."

Well done with this write, Anusha.

Very well written Anusha. Its true in today's busy world no one looks out for anybody...they are all just too busy...but sometimes helping the one in need and bringing back smile on a sad face can relieve you from your own worries and tension.
Your poem reminds me of that famous line that Gandhiji has said, 'Be the change that you wish to see in the world'.
Well done friend! :)
