Everyday

Everyday

A Poem by Apatheia

Open your eyes, breathe in.
Another day begins.
Thoughts crowd your mind as you awake.
"How much more of this can I take?"

Every day seems to be the same.
People around you are just faceless no names.
It doesn't matter and I neither to you.
So why even try what's expected to do?

Someday you'll simply cease to exist.
So tell me, what's the point in all of this?
"I'm told that God has a plan for me."
If only it was one that was easier seen.

You're just another heart destined for disaster,
Always wishing that everything could be redeemed and remastered.
Death is the reality,
and its approaching faster.

Very dark and depressing, it seems to this person just getting out of bed must be a massive achievement! You express these sentiments with such depth and clarity. I agree with James, the grammar in lines seven and eight throws the poem off kilter a bit.

Nice rhyme and rhythm. Loved reading it. The one line I took issue with was line seven. It sounded awkward

In the end. Death is all we have. What is important is what we do in between birth and death. A very interesting poem. Open the door to question and thoughts. Goal of a writer. Thank you for the excellent poem.

Apatheia, many of us have expressed such emotion when going through self doubt and hurt. Tis poem is very sad in that it expresses such a feeling of hopelessness when hope is a mere thought away. If we change our way of thinking in small ways and try to seek out hope away from the control we give to others over us we can take a small step towards independence of our hearts and our destiny.

I'm sorry you're in this place right now. Its tough, and I've felt these kinds of thoughts on multiple occasions, as you already know. Its good to see you writing again. You should keep it up. Writing helps, it really does. And plus, it gives me an opportunity to read your poetry ^^
