A peek in the jungle...

A peek in the jungle...

A Poem by Apoorvo Chakraborty

I sat on my desk,
looking out of the window.
I saw in front of me a jungle,
the jungle of the city.
The muddy patches were replaced by
well built roads.
The buildings replaced the trees.
The fauna was replaced by
automobiles and humans.

I don't know if it is for the good or the bad.
But for now, the jungle of the city,
is where we delve.

This is the jungle of today and tomorrow. A habitat of carnivores that will eat each other alive, right out of their socks. We call it for lack of a better term, "the naked city'. No longer do we have large vistas of unbroken plains or huge water-holes where all the animal creatures came to drink, wash themselves or be eaten. Now these rites can happen on each and every corner of each and every block. You said it well; it is now where that we delve and it will only from here grow worse, never better.
