Falling ~ Between the Dream Space and RealityA Poem by april_moonflowerThis is an exercise from THE POET'S COMPANION (pg 134)- this is about a recurring anxiety dream I have had for years. lol.Falling~ I try to reach for a shred of reality Twisting terror smothers me completely Running from an unknown fear Not quite escaping it's grasp Falling~ I am caught and rooted Not able to move I take a sleepy breathe It materializes itself right before my closed eyes Overtaking my mind swiftly Almost violently In a form of deep black nothingness Falling~~~ Surrending to the abyss of the unknown Around and around Up and down Pushing and pulling me down Forcing itself upon me Falling~ I can't escape the dream or reality of it Even in the in between space where things are never clear It lingers like an animal pouncing on it's prey Ready to devour me up whole, then lick it's lips delicately Falling~~ I wake up to reality with a jolt It's a thin line that separates my mind from the stairs. © 2008 april_moonflower |
