tasting honey, taste the bee

tasting honey, taste the bee

A Poem by aprilrayne

scaling back attention
like disapproving love
slowly demonstrated in a slip
when cheek touches cheek
but heart is far from heart

this is not the way we say goodbye

returning warmth for warmth
a dangerous curl of tongue
a dangerous embrace
while jesus gives the thumb
my god
will i release you?

regarding love like it was fame
advertising time and chance to blame
will i release you?
can i release you?

or will nostalgia light the chorus in its key
strike the place where we descend
tasting honey, taste the bee

with grace too expensive to pay
a dive bar couldn't put us in our place

but,
in our final hour and second hand smoke
the longing of two vicious lips diverge

can i release you?
please let me release you
give me a reason
just one to let you go
