felt the need to make right on everything, just in case

If I should die today,
Only invite those whom I speak to today,
Only those who you know are valuable now,
Forget those I loved yesterday,
Their place is taken by the effortless.
By those whose care is mirrored in mine.

If I should die today,
I expect you to raise a glass,
For I too am celebrating success up here,
For I will make peace with all before I go.
Lay all demons to rest before my heart does.
And tell those I love, their worth each day.

If I should die today,
Respect all my past mistakes,
For you were all graced as my witnesses.
Value all of my life choices also,
For they were made in your presence,
In order of appreciation not your opinion.

If I should die today,
Know I regret nothing I have said or done.
My heart sat only in the right place,
To be an honor to myself and my stance,
And for the protection and revelation of others.
Repercussions are there, but pain is temporary,
I always chose correctly for myself at my time.

If I should die today,
Remember only my smile and my laugh,
For these are gifted to the most important.
Remember the phrases I used so freely,
The unmuffled voice I spoke with,
This represents the freedom of my spirit,
Not the tears or pain I wore on my shoulders.

If I should die today,
Laugh at my funny habits and weird ways,
For no one else will possess them like I.
Pass no tears over them or me,
Life is not permanent and neither am I.
Only your memories will keep me alive.
Make me a legend in your words and stories.

If I should die today,
Dress me in a hoodie and jeans once more,
I never had time for make up so forget that,
Oh and paint my nails like fire, I liked both!
Take off my jewellery, except my tags,
Those whose match will know their importance,
And know they never left my neck intentionally.
Give the rest to those who seem most relevant.

Burn the unimportant possessions of mine,
But find my notebooks, they contain my heart,
Log onto my users and post their words,
Make them your religious practice,
At least at first, then give them to another.
Read their confusion and their certainty,
It was important to me to release them.

If I should die today,
Make my body leave the earth in flames,
Scatter me in the city among the hussle,
Sprinkle me in the rivers that held my peace,
Put me into a jewel and wear me around,
I always wanted to see everything everywhere.
Blow the rest into the air and laugh,
I never moved that fast so it's a first.

If I should die today,
Read this when you all need to grieve,
Just don't gather in the church,
I've no business with God anyway.
Throw me a party one last time,
Play all the songs we listened to together,
I always loved that feeling of friends and music.

If I should die today,
Make my departure as dramatic as me,
If you cry you best cry louder than ever!
But get someone to read this aloud.
Make the words sound like I would have,
Give it some attitude and humor just like me,
because if you don't the next line won't work:
