My Greatest Desire

My Greatest Desire

A Poem by Azure Montessa (Blue)
"

The thing that I want the most.

"

Gold and jewels I do not wish

Fame and power I do not like

Compliments and praises I do not want

Wealth and luxury never fascinate me.

Men can offer me the entire earth

but it doesn't bring me delight

They can offer me pleasure

but I honestly prefer the taste of martyrdom

Agony and suffering I'd joyfully carry on my back

To carry my cross has always been my burning passion.

My life is never mine at all

I lift my joy and my pain--making them His

Life is but for a moment, I wish mine to end

For I long to be in His Presence; eternal glory I dream about.

Merits I have none, salvation I cannot earn

I thirst for His infinite love and mercy--torments of hell I certainly dread!

I crave nothing but His love; ah!  How hopeless I am without Him

To serve Him with all my heart is my flaming fire---

My One And Greatest Desire!!

Author's Note

Azure Montessa (Blue)
I thought I hadn't written a free verse before but I chanced upon this old note while I was scanning my old diaries. To my surprise, it dates back to when I was just fifteen years old. So my apologies when I mentioned in "Moth and Fire" that it was the first time I attempted to write a free verse.
