Be warned.

Beware of the writer

who professes his love for you

in lengthy letters

and  in the privacy of a poem.

His vocabulary bank boasts of literary luxury:

similes--sickeningly sugarcoated,

metaphor--menacingly multicolored,

cliches--cunningly crafted.

His verses hold nothing

but empty expressions and poetic pretenses.

Devised to deceive.

Written to wound.

He'll place you on a pedestal

only to watch your downfall to the depths of despair,

another victim of alphabet's ancient art.

Beware of the writer

who weighs your worth with his words.

I like this poem. I heard writers love the pen and paper over real life. A writer could be dangerous if you had caught their attention. Maybe they need a muse or a deadly siren to steal their soul. Thank you for sharing the entertaining poetry.

i could sense sort of love gone wrong on this piece. it is almost impossible to discern sincerity in lengthy letters and poems; as such, there's a need to be extra careful every time we encounter someone who seems to be too "sweet". A good warning to every one. thank you for sharing.

Well said, but there are some sincere writers as well. These guys are usually too shy to tell someone how they feel, so they write these really deep, sad and sometimes romantically corny poems which they hide in notebooks (or I guess now on flash drives) for no-one to see.

But yes indeed, there are some word wizards out there that prove that the pen is mightier than the sword.

Wise words, Blue. Yes, there are few out there to which sincerity is a very elusive concept. Great write. You might want to make a small change … 'place on a pedestal' is how the idiom is said in Canada.
