The Smoker's Song

The Smoker's Song

A Poem by AJ Flutters

"As you wither in smoke,
Die in gravel, not leaves.
Keep the inferno from consuming",
he says as he chucks
the harbinger of fire
toward a sea of stone
Upon the sole leaf blooming.

no matter the ceremony, the cigarette still ended up burning the leaf. intentional or accidental is what i'm curious to know, like despite our best efforts to not cause pain we end up doing it anyway. good poem
