The hopelessness that comes with being single for a long time.

I hold onto a lot of fear

Mostly irrational

But for me it is reality

I am so independent

Yet dependent on others

Terrified of being alone

Often clinging to the bad

Just as an attempt to avoid it

I could be wrong about being alone forever

But I could so easily be right
