Stupid Butterflies

Stupid Butterflies

That look he gives

When his eyes pierce mine

It gives me a sense of security

Reminding me of the arms he once protected me with

But now his arms are around her…

That smile he gives

Giving me any sign of hope

His smiles make me smile

But I don’t dare show him

His smiles are taken by her….

That touch I miss

When his arms grabbed my body toward his

Makes the memories of us even harder to forget

But now he’s touching her…

Her!

That girl he calls his one and only

The one who took my place

I know what I am doing is wrong

I know I shouldn’t let him know the way I feel

I know I should let go

But when I close my eyes at night

It’s he who is in my dreams

I miss lying on his chest

Hearing his heartbeat

My heart no longer beats

At the same beat as the rest of the world

It beats at a broken sound

Only the deaf can hear

When his gaze is towards me

I wish he’d walk over

And say “I still care”

But my wishes rarely come true these days

I know this is the wrong thing

For all the right reasons

If I ever had him mine again

I’d hold on tighter then ever

Kiss him to show I love him

And miss him like I’d never see him again
