Angelina

Angelina

A Poem by Alexandra

Angelina, do you remember the night I gave you the burdening secrets of my life?

I spilled all my flaws and showed you all the scars

That night I went home whole

You told me that resilience lies within me and that lotus flowers like me can survive even in the murkiest of waters

Angelina, why did you run off after that night?

Your desk was uninhabited and you didn’t show up for days

And after days, all of your things were moved from your desk

I drew lotus flowers obsessively hoping you’d come back to repeat the same things you said that night

Angelina, I finally saw you after so many years

Angelina, I spoke to you

Angelina, you left me in the middle of the aisle

Angelina, were they right?

Angelina, is it true that the night you made me whole, you went home incomplete?

Angelina, answer me, I’ll make you whole again

You have resilience and lotus flowers like you-
