“I Hate You”//Swallow Me Up

“I Hate You”//Swallow Me Up

A Poem by Alexandra

I hear your feet crunching on leaves again
Memories slur through my head
I’ll go down the fire pole
If you tell me when
Just don’t let me go when I get down

I hear slow breathes
Rise
Fall
Break me in half
Why, don’t you just leave me alone for once?

I already hear you everyday
I see you every night in my dreams
Just drive away like you usually do
Throw me on the floor like you know how to
Yell back at me like you never wanted to, but had to
Leave me outside in the cold like you would

So, every time you try to renter my mind
I’ll remember Sharkeys
And how you yelled with such strength
“You ruined my life//I hate you”
And I promised I would never interfere again with your life

So, leave me alone
Just like you know how to
Like you always wanted me to

This paused me... and is relatable. I think deep down we KNOW we have the power to hurt but we too often forget that what we might say (in ANY circumstance) may be forgiven (one day) but never forgotten.
