A Poem by Alexandra

Everything lies here
In the museum of art
I can’t be anymore apologetic to myself

These murals come to life
And speak to me in words
You could never say
They accompany me through my shifts
More delicately than you could ever

The Head of a Woman, Matisse
Is me when I look at you
So solemn
So uninterested
To dive deeper
Knowing there’s a disconnect
Too little
Too much

Everything lies here
In the museum of arts
Where lovers conjoin
And I go alone
Leaving you behind
