Coming Home

Coming Home

A Poem by Alexandra

I can be so satisfied
So intrigued by life’s mannerisms
I’ll return home
Dig through the basement
And find residue of you
My mom looks at my face as I pick up your shirts
Fold
Into the bag
She says no words
Christmas stockings with our first letter names
Modern Baseball hat underneath my clothes
Photos
Old shelves we hung in closets
All in the garbage
Where they’ll waste away on an island far from here

This will be easier this way

“Alex, it’s okay to let go”
