Pool Hours/ You Are Still Here

Pool Hours/ You Are Still Here

A Poem by Alexandra

Wes knows much as I do
What happens when you bring two people like us together
Dilated eyes
Fluid conversation
No barriers
Brutal honesty tearing down walls
Rebuilding a foundation lost from the year before

He is the epitome of kindness
He shows no concern for another man
He knows his placement among the rest
He stands with all the strength in his two hands and two feet
Ready to give
And not ask for anything back

I haven’t been lucky
I haven’t been loved
I haven’t deserved you
But, here you write:
“There’s nothing else I’d rather do, than be beside you”
