$60 Giftcard to Sears

$60 Giftcard to Sears

A Poem by Alexandra

Rough days
You had enough driving back and forth
I had enough trying to make a better choice for the both of us
We had two cents to our name
Stuck in the middle of a college town
Sucking the life out of us
There was no way we could prosper

Rock bottom was going to the local Sears
Trying to spend money from a gift card that you forgot years ago
Walking down the aisles
With hungry mouths
But, none to feed us

I think that was the day I realized:
I was poorer than ever
But, better off because...

I had you by my side

this is excellent...an almost surprise ending...wasn't expecting it...and such a positive feeling.
we are never completely broke if we have love...that is a gift card that never expires or reaches a limit.

Sweet ending. The richest thing in life is that special person who walks by your side.
