Bayway Circle Leads Nowhere

Bayway Circle Leads Nowhere

A Poem by Alexandra

Outside of a CVS pharmacy
A phone shattered to the floor
As he pulled her into his arms
This is the first time he saw her break down
And fall for such a fool
A man that no longer exists
Or at least shouldn’t

A woman that stands so strong
Piercing eyes
That knows her wants and needs
Quick on back talk
Let the slightest inconvenience
Drag her through the dirt in seconds
Stripped her facade
And sewed her mouth
As she released muffled cries

The night ended with a slow close of the door
As she cried on benzodiazepines
And fell asleep
While he walked back to his car
Wondering how the girl he loved
Had such a big heart all along
