I’m the last thing in your head
Maybe the toxic memory That fizzles before it skips to the next neuron synapse But here I’ll write everything that way we’ll never forget: Pine grove drives with our favorite sweaters Burning those same lyrics in our head after finding out the betrayal Florida trip on the rooftop after my birthday Smoke silhouettes after a long night drinking Cozumel waters whispering “I Love You” Records I bought with the last farewell letter Rotting away in an attic room Waiting for a sign from you 8 months later at a bar in our old car We tied all the loose knots “Will we ever speak again” A laughter And a slam of the door Never to hear from you again © 2019 Alexandra |
