Neptune's Fury

Neptune's Fury

A Poem by Athena Marie
"

The angry sea in you and me.

"
I never knew how to swim
Until I dove into you
Never drenched in waters deep
Until your waves rushed on through
In your voice, heard the ocean
Drifted, then was washed shore
Tide ruled my every motion
Undercurrent was my cure

Then one night the moon grew round
What seemed serene threatened now
Waves engulfed my sinking head
What gave life left me for dead
Deep waters swallowed me whole
The raging sea took my soul
Angel's face, devil within
Waves just like flames burned my skin

Your beauty disguised my grief
Sucked beneath the coral reef
Turbulent waters drowned me
And stole my identity
If you knew what beckoned you
Oh wicked god of the blue
Deathly waters once took me
Smother you eternally
