Friendly Fire

Friendly Fire

A Poem by Athena Marie
"

Sometimes we cause our own damage. Idea and topic were discovered through a good friend and fellow writer, Rosanna Vacca.

"
Shot down her own plane today
Thought it was the enemy
In this war within herself
Her mind is the artillery

The plane had burst into flames
Though invisible to see
In this war within herself
Her body is the casualty

Can't live in these conditions
Feels she's grown so much older
She's been wounded physically
Her spirit is the last soldier
