Top Thrill

Top Thrill

A Poem by Danielle Smith

Night. It's dark. These lights make the whole park bright. Thirty minute wait. Forty minutes 'til closing. Light breathing. Calm. Not scared at all. Seeing people blast off. Heavy breathing. Scared. Terrified. It's only seventeen seconds of my life. Calming down. Climbing in. Buckling up. Check. Check. Check. Slowly pulling up to the light.  Red. Yellow. Yellow. Yellow. Green! Eyes Closed. One hundred twenty miles per hour. Screaming. Screaming. Where am I? Four hundred twenty feet in the air. Am I going up or down? Down. Opening my eyes. It's over. All over. Glad I rode Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point.

I really like this poem. I love how fast paced it is, and how it's confusing- deliberately I assume, as it adds to the poem- and how you don't realise it's about a rollarcoaster ride until the end, and then it all makes sense. Or I'm just slow and I didn't realise it :P ANYWAY. I thought it was a fantastic poem and the frantic nature of it was great.
