Kaleidoscope Headspace

Kaleidoscope Headspace

A Poem by Austin Hennings

Burning skin
How red my stomach was
Ornaments shimmer off my reflection
Space in my eyes
Kaleidoscope headspace
Aching bones like a runner
Chalk and paint under my fingernails
How long could a day last?
The sight I can't believe
To see what has never been seen
I ask the sun my name
I tell the well I wish
And say what I want to see the day I'm gone
Crown of grain and berries
Fought for tonight when I can't stay awake
When colors and shapes eat binary pin striped suit ties
My limbs grow for miles
I'm stumped
