blurrybirthdayparties

A Poem by ava india

blurry birthday parties and cherry cheeks on ice and pink candy floss flying in the breeze and tangled braids and school cafeteria ice cream eaten on wet grass hands held beneath gum-coated desks in french class now seem like a memory from a past life and i knew i wouldn't sit with you alone by the river stretching past school until the gates slammed shut ever again so my hopes remained low with my discarded wrapping paper at the bottom of your wardrobe .
