I owe you.

I owe you.

A Poem by 7ofspades

You are a stranger until I know you. Until I know you
I owe you nothing at all, not a glance or word or
feeling of any shape or kind.

But strangely enough, the moment you open your mouth,
sit across from me, point out something I've missed- all of a sudden you've become a person-
like myself. like him and like her.

And you're longer just anyone,
but quite immediately someone I know
someone I've acknowledged
well both of us, actually, mutually.

So the next time I see you, bump into you
on a long ride home on the train
in a random corridor of some building
I owe you.
I owe you at the least a pause before I take a
few more quick steps.
And I suppose you owe me that too.
