Happily Ever After

Happily Ever After

A Poem by ayejodie
"

Marriage

"
Fighting, but without the passion,
Sex without the love.
Living, but not really feeling alive..
Sitting here in silence,
letting memories of everyday
play out around me.
Scenes from the past two years,
And how many more to come.
Him and her..
And all I focus on is her sinking face,
even when she smiles, its not a smile.

As if her skin is transparent,
I see her thousand wounds.
Her dulling heart,
and torn soul.
Whatever she paints on her face,
I see right through.
I feel.

So ruined,
There's no longer want for love.
If love holds her captive in this moment,
That last forever.
Where everything is happening,
But really nothing at all.
She has thrown away the key to her life,
She lives here now
Always looking out the windows.
Engaging in polite sex
and losing her will to fight in battle.

And although it's just a ring,
It holds her tighter than she holds it.
