Time and I

Time and I

A Poem by Bibie

Could have been living in a castle with high walls

Listening to dictates, taking orders

Feeling like nothing was gon’ be good enough

But then your ego was even louder than noise

Realized a lil late, but my life can’t be your ego’s voice

If I looked deep enough, I knew I could fly

I just was to confused to even try

Swept off by all the smoothness and charms

Basking in the sun of promises, obviously harms

A pathetic illusion, it all turned out to be

Glad I pulled out long enough to breathe

With eyes wide open

I have me to fight for

Your life was a gift wrapped in a lie

I stuck around though with my hopes held high

Changes in times, waves, seasons and tide

It could be lovers, to friends, to strangers who say hi

Now I love me so much, and I’ve realized,

All I have is me myself and time.
