The Ladder I Own

The Ladder I Own

A Poem by b4i8islept

The Ladder I Own

The ladder I own only goes down

It takes me deep beneath the ground

To the flames that I desire to feel

Better than happiness that is not real

It is out there, it is out there I am told

All I have ever found is bitter stylistic cold

Shutters on my windows, shudders through my bones

My joy and pleasure is always paid for by my atones

Now the end is near and I am tired of treading water

I will climb down my ladder and become the Devil's fodder
