Moon

Moon

A Poem by Father Mojo
"

Written on December 13, 1989 (I know because it is written in the journal of poems I found)

"

Rise, moon, rise, like a tired soul from sleep.
Climb, moon, climb through murky skies so steep.
I once beheld your sight " a child with noble dreams;
Now I stand in naked night, lamenting subdued schemes.

Sail, moon, sail, like algae on a bog.
Wail, moon, wail like the howling of a dog.
Sing to the stars in all your prime, glow like a raging fire;
Sing in the face of fleeting time " your night will soon expire.

Fall, moon, fall! Sink in horizon’s sea.
Die round ball! Fade from atrocity.
I stretch out a frail hand to catch a scrap to save
As you plunge toward the sand, descending to your grave.

Author's Note

Father Mojo
I wrote this in college, probably while in a class. I wanted to be a poet and knew nothing about poetry. Any hint of actual meter is purely by accident.
