Something Like Noah

A spoken word poem or song about what it would be like to live through a flood when everyone you know has died.

SOMETHING LIKE NOAH

I’m a simple man
With simple wants and simple needs.
I Never did nobody wrong (except for me)
I never did nobody right (it’s plain to see).

One day the Word of the Lord it came to me…
Told me what to do, but I could not believe…
I told my friends " they just laughed at me.

And then the rain came down
And washed all over me;
The rain came down
And washed me out to sea
And still I
Don’t know why
God ever chose to speak to me.
But the rain came down when God spoke to me.

You can say I’m blessed, but I would disagree.
You can even call me “righteous” if you please.
But I’m the one who has to live with the memories

Of when the rain came down
And washed all over me;
The rain came down
And washed me out to sea
And still I
Don’t know why
God ever chose to speak to me.
But the rain came down when God spoke to me.

They say it is God’s will, but I am not so sure…
God’s will feels just like drifting in a storm…
For some reason, I always expected something more

Than when the rain came down
And washed all over me;
The rain came down
And washed me out to sea
And still I
Don’t know why
God ever chose to speak to me.
But the rain came down when God spoke to me.
