This I Believe

Inspired by those NPR things. Labeling it 'Horror'. Just for laughs.

I don’t believe in anything.

But, to quote one of my favorite movies, “I have a good idea.”

This Idea guides me. Keeps me ‘sane’ while my life is shaped by ‘insanity’.
My Idea is change. Constant change. I listen to everything, everyone. And I change. Those who I disagree with may get a little extra attention, but I do try to listen to everyone. I get to hear Ideas! There is nothing more beautiful than an Idea. I find you all very interesting, you and your Ideas.

I have the Idea that I am different from other people. That my thoughts flow differently. That, in submerging myself in thoughts and quiet observations, I have somehow changed into a new being. Am I more perfect this way? Am I better as I am?
In thinking this I recall a poem I stole.

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.”

(There is more to this poem. There is always more to truth.)

Some believe every one of us is bound by unity; we are cut from the same cloth and then, when woven together, we will be oh so perfect. Others believe each and every one of us is a bit of thread, floating though the breeze, weaving through the air itself creating constant changing sunsets with every twitch of thread. They have words for these beliefs. But there is no word for what we are. We don’t know who we are! Someday we might be able to write it down. But, for now . . . I think we are, I am, an expressive space.

Someday, we might use those flying threads to sew together that cloth and create that longed for perfection. Become what we have always wished for. Strangely, this perfection we have been chasing seems to be what We Are. But that is merely my Idea. And whether I am cloth or thread, may my Ideas be ever changing truth.

This is my Idea. This is what I ‘Believe’.

“ . . . And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

* * * “I have a good idea” is from Dogma and Marianne Williamson wrote the poem I split in two in her book “A Return to Love” which I have never read.
