Knock Four Times

Knock Four Times

A Poem by Douglas Keppol

All great things must come to an end.
Doctor, this is yours.
You know your future cannot bend.
You had your chance to soar
And soar you did.

I don't want to go.
I'm not ready for this.
Please, I beg you, no.
I'm not ready for death's kiss,
We know I won't be the same
And I'm truly dying after all.

You'll hear your final chimes,
Your clock will run out
When he knocks four times.
