The Homerun

The Homerun

A Poem by JT

The batter steps up to the plate

For it will be his fate

To reach the base

A smile spreads across his face

For he know all he needs is to make contact

To make the ball soar far and wide he knows this for a fact

He dares not swing for the fence

For this will make him tense

He watches the first pitch for a ball

As his teamates begin to call!

What a great eye

Now send this to the rye (right)

He gets the sign  for swing away

As the next ball comes he wiffs away

You can do this said coach gabe

Just like that he called his shot just like the great babe

The next pitch came he did swing

As the bat made a loud ring

The ball sailed far into the sun

Then the umpire called "Homerun"
