Thief of Life

Thief of Life

A Poem by PoetryofProvidence

I am drowning in sorrows
for limited tomorrows
for an old man I love
I would trade my life
to give him time with his wife
and the treasures given her from above
tears continue to flow
for the man that I know
and selfishness to keep him ours
emptiness will be the place
where in hearts kept his space
his company joyful for our hours
mercury has risen so high
a beloved life about to die
and slips thru our life like a sieve
to keep him with us
from rideing that bus
there is nothing I wouldn't give
My heart has become broken
the Prince of Darkness has spoken
and destroyed our source of joy
he has played with our life
his gift is the knife
that eviserates all to destroy
Will I get through tomorrow
without his strength that I borrow
and the months that I'll get little sleep
grief is pounding me
like a violent storm at sea
from roots that are planted so deep
I will pick up a drink
that numbs what I think
tomorrow is another day
and curse he bought
thats fallen in thought
as into the night I do sway
the dust on my head
before my love's dead
as I look demise in it's eyes
Whatever I pray
will not move this day
brought about by the Prince of Lies
Why must you steal
all that I feel
I was created a woman of flesh
You have cast me down
on a man I would crown
by replacing his life with death
