The Mountain Path (9-14-85)

A Poem by PoetryofProvidence

Its the mountain
lies before me
yet to find the path
So to its brow
must I grapple
Conquer life and death
led from hopeless valleys
frightening with their darkness
standing beside our fires
to drive away the night
Cresting to the lasting hills
driven by our intense wills
wading through the stagnant pools
planted by the blinded fools
Sunken in the clay and mire
of a wicked mans desire
traveling towards the light
we will find on mountains height
toward the resting place of eagles
nested in the mountains might
to eye the picture far below
that common man has come to know
shadowed by the cliffs protection
to the worlds insurrection
