We are all the same

We are all the same

A Poem by B.J
"

I was at a lecture yesterday, it set me thinking deeply about what was going on in the world today.

"
The Lord said "We are all the same,"
A word with a terrible history "Prejudice"
And, I know, this is true
So much hurt from uncaring, unthinking actions
In our modern society,of free-spoken language
The power of words, the power of language
Hearts beat, around the world
Like mine, and yours
Our feelings are the same who wherever we are
Like mine and yours
So never underestimated the power of words
Often used to abuse, oppress, and subdue
They can be used to make mighty swords
I often wonder what is happening to this world of ours
Why can't we all take notice
I'd like to say I do, and maybe other do too

Prejudice

Why can't we find respect and trust
To help others along the way
I think we are all entitled
To do as others do
We've seen the way people are treated
And I feel for you
I've often asked myself, "Why is there so much prejudice?"
Because our skin is not the same
Or what creed we follow
Or who we are, man or woman
Husband or wife
I often ask "Why can't we just hold hands?"
And call each other by name

Why can't we all just be friends? Ah, the question that will never really be answered. Words are mighty and can help, but actions are what counts when it comes to combatting prejudice and hatred. A bit of a rose colored glass Utopian view expressed here, but beautifully written. Lydi**

yes .. the power of words and the pen are mighty indeed .. the Bible speaks many times of the power of the spoken word ..
“He spoke, and it was done, He commanded, and it stood fast” (Ps. 33:9).

hurtful things that spring out of our mouths in an instant can destroy lifetimes .. again from the Bible
in James chapter 3 the tongue is described as a small part of our body but powerful like the rudder on a ship .. it directs the whole body and is a constant battle to subdue it ..

sorry .. i don't mean to sound preachy .. :) your message is one we all need to be reminded of .. constantly .. thank you for sharing this .. and i agree .. in light of world events these days it needs to be discussed and put into practice

In our uniqueness, we do share a lot of things. We should find the respect and trust as you state for each other. Excellent...:).........
